Kaleb Ray was reborn from a new, Euro Berenguer, silicone/vinyl, Luca sculpt doll. His skin feels so soft and real. Please browse through Kaleb' s pictures and I will describe his"rebirth" to you. Enjoy and as always, thanks for visiting the Azygous Kids Nursery.
Kaleb started life as most babies here at the Azygous Nursery. I removed all of his original color and started with the newly blank canvas. He took a nice warm bubble bath to bring out those pretty baby colors.
This silicon/vinyl was something new for me to work with. It's much softer than the regular vinyl used in the US Berenguer babies, but not quite like the Ashton Drake dolls. Kaleb is such a sleepy new baby boy. He IS all boy. Although I sometimes create babies from the same sculpts, they cannot be reproduced and each Azygous Kids baby is unique. If baby Kaleb is crawling into your heart, please bid now, as there will not be another just like him.
I hand painted Kaleb inside and out. Each little fold and crease was attended to. His skin coloring is wonderful. Of course, he is no longer a toy, but instead, is a collectible, heirloom, meant to last for a long time.
What a chubby little fellow! I painted wispy eyebrows on baby Kaleb. I also painted natural colored lips that have been sealed and hand applied little, baby lashes. His little fingernails and toenails have been tipped in off-white (so natural looking), and sealed with a sealer that won't yellow with time. I opened Kaleb's nose so he could breathe. He has hand rooted mohair lashes on those sleepy eyelids.
I rooted Kaleb's hair with beautiful mohair from OrgandyRose. I just love this mohair. I used a hand dyed mohair in a color Linda calls Havanna Brown. This is probably my favorite of her colors. His hair is microrooted and looks as though it is growing from her scalp. I rooted his hair sparsely to look as though he is a newborn baby. You can leave it fluffy and natural, dampen it with water and smooth it straight, or use a little water or gel to make the pretty baby curls.(photo above dampened and scrunched ).
Kaleb Ray has a nice, new, jointed body. His full legs/arms make him so much fun to dress. Kaleb now wears 0-3 month sized baby clothing. His limbs have been filled with premium polyfil stuffing and squishy baby fat pellets for weight and softness. His body has been restuffed and weighted with premium polyester stuffing and lots of those squishy baby fat pellets as well. He is so fun to dress.
You will have to support Kaleb's little head when you hold him, just like a real baby.
Baby Kaleb has a very strong magnet in his head and his pacifier. These rare-earth magnets should not be used around computer equipment or pace-makers. Please let me know if you need this magnet removed.

Kaleb's Homecoming:
I will send baby Kaleb home to you in his cute little, white, onesie and shortalls with matching beret, blue socks, and little white bib. He will also bring his stuffed Valentine bear, pacifier, tummy and tushy plates, and his pj's and blanket. (not pictured).

I feel so blessed by God to be able to create these incredibly "real" babies. I love creating them and I am anxious to share them with you. I have enjoyed real babies all my life and making these reborns seems to come naturally to me. I have been an artist for many years, painting with water colors and oils, so creating these small children is like painting on a 3D canvas. It is truly a gift from God. And, such fun!!!
