Baby Tommy started life as all babies here at the Azygous Nursery. I removed all of his original color and started with the newly blank canvas. He took a nice warm bubble bath to bring out those pretty baby colors.
Although I sometimes create babies from the same sculpts, they cannot be reproduced and each Azygous Kids baby is unique. If baby Tommy is is crawling into your heart, please bid now, as there will not be another just like him. I am not doing special order babies at this time, so if you would like an Azygous Kid, please bid on one here on ebay.
I hand painted Tommy inside and out. Each little fold and crease was attended to. Tommy was a used doll when he arrived at the nursery, so he does have some scrapes and marks on him that will show that. Tommy is also a preemie, and has very splotchy, reddish skin like a real baby who was born early. Of course, he is no longer a play toy, but a collectible, heirloom, meant to last for a long time.
I painted wispy eyebrows on baby Tommy. I also painted natural colored lips that have been sealed, and hand rooted human hair dark brown lashes. His little fingernails and toenails have been tipped in off-white (so natural looking) and all were sealed with a sealer that won't yellow with time. I opened Tommy's nose very carefully, so he could breathe.
Those of you have have seen my babies before, know that I love to root baby hair. It's just my most favorite part of reborning babies. Thomas Alan has beautiful, very sparsely rooted, OrgandyRose Mohair in a shade that Linda calls Fiery Chestnut. It ranges from a reddish brown, to almost dark red. I love the feel and softness of this mohair. It is grown in the USA and hand dyed by the owner of the goats (Linda) herself!!!!
Tommy's hair has been sealed from within, so it can be carefully styled. You can dampen it and scrunch into little baby curls, or smooth straight with your fingers.
Tommy has a new cloth body. His full limbs have been weighted with sand and sealed so they will not leak. His body has been weighted with poly pellets, and soft, premium polyfil stuffing for cuddliness. I don't go for a lot of weight, I want these babies to FEEL good when you hold them, and feel a more "natural" weight, rather than heavy, dead weight. Baby Tommy must wear preemie size baby clothing. His sweater is a bit big on him, but it just looks so cute, that I couldn't resist.
You will have to support his little head when you hold him, just like a real baby. Notice the little trains on his sweater and matching hat. His little booties also have little trains. SOOO cute.
Tommy has a very strong rare earth magnet in his head and on his pacifier. These should not be used around pacemakers or computers. Please let me know if you need this removed.
Tommy has very splotchy skin, just as a newborn would have. He is such a good baby though, and rarely fusses. Even though he has full limbs, he is still very poseable.

Tommy's Homecoming:
I will send little Tommy home to you in his darling MiniWear sleeper with the trucks on it, and the bib that looks like it matches! He will also bring his beautiful knit sweater/hat set from Carriage Boutique with trains, and little train booties. He will also bring his onesie from Little Me. Of course Tommy will bring his stuffed teddy bear and his pacifier. He will also bring his favorite blanket (not pictured.)
Please e-mail me if you have any questions about baby Tommy. Please remember that he is no longer a toy, but instead a collectible for adult "children"! He was also a used baby before being reborn, and may have marks on him because of that. Tommy WAS born in a smoke-free nursery as all babies should be.

I feel so blessed by God to be able to create these incredibly "real" babies. I love creating them and I am anxious to share them with you. I have enjoyed real babies all my life and making these reborns seems to come naturally to me. I have been an artist for many years, painting with water colors and oils, so creating these small children is like painting on a 3D canvas. It is truly a gift from God. And, such fun!!!
