Adopted

The above photo is my grandson a few moments after his birth, a real baby, not a doll. I have had so many questions about this... : )

Michael Jay was reborn from a vintage Berjusa baby. I love redoing the old dolls. This one was no different. Please browse through Mikey's pictures and I will describe his "rebirth" to you. Enjoy and as always, thanks for visiting the Azygous Kids Nursery.

Baby Michael started life as most babies here at the Azygous Nursery. I removed all of his original color and started with the newly blank canvas. He took a nice warm bubble bath to bring out those pretty baby colors. Chubby little fellow, isn't he?

Although I sometimes create babies from the same sculpts, they cannot be reproduced and each Azygous Kids baby is unique. If baby Michael has crawled into your heart, please bid now, as there will not be another just like him. This particular sculpt in full vinyl appears very hard to find.

I hand painted Mikey inside and out. Each little fold and crease was attended to. Of course, he is not a toy, but a collectible, heirloom, meant to last for a long time.

What a darling, chubby baby boy he is! I painted wispy eyebrows on baby Mike. I also painted natural colored lips that have been sealed and hand rooted, brown mohair (to match his hair) baby lashes. His little fingernails and toenails have been tipped in off-white (so natural looking) and all were sealed with a sealer that won't yellow with time. I opened Michael's nose very carefully, so he could breathe.

Michael has beautiful Organdyrose mohair in Havanna brown. I have microrooted it with the tiniest needle I had, to make it look like it was truly growing from his head. I also rooted it very sparsely like a new baby would have. This is awesome mohair, and you can dampen it and smooth straight, or scrunch into little baby curls.

Michael has a new cloth body that makes him much more poseable. His limbs have been weighted with sterile sand and soft polyfil and sealed to prevent leakage. His body has been weighed with poly pellets, and made soft with premium polyfil. His full arms/legs make him so very fun to dress. He can easily wear 0-3 month baby clothing. Michael does have one flaw. Being a vintage baby, he came to me with a tear on his arm. I have photographed it below, but it doesn't show up well. It has been glued shut, and I don't believe it will cause him any problems, but I wanted you to know. It is his left arm up by his shoulder.

You will have to support Mikey's little head when you hold him, just like a real baby.

Michael does not have any magnets for his pacifier. Because of his open mouth, he is able to take an unaltered pacifier that a real baby would use.

Please e-mail me if you have any questions about baby Michael. He was born in a smoke-free nursery as all babies should be. Please remember that Mikey is NOT a play toy, and is NOT recommended for children.

Please watch for my other reborn babies. I will be listing babies off and on throughout the year now. I have numerous lined up here in the works, including Middleton , Berenguer, Cititoy (Citi Toy), Zapf, Antonio Juan, Ashton Drake, Falca, and Berjusas. Thanks so much for viewing Michael Jay.

Michael, as with all my babies, is signed and numbered by me on his bottom.

I feel so blessed by God to be able to create these incredibly "real" babies. I love creating them and I am anxious to share them with you. I have enjoyed real babies all my life and making these reborns seems to come naturally to me. I have been an artist for many years, painting with water colors and oils, so creating these small children is like painting on a 3D canvas. It is truly a gift from God. And, such fun!!! Thanks so much for visiting with the Azygous Kids Nursery!!!
