Alina Ann was reborn from a vintage Zapf baby doll. Those of you who have seen my previous work, will know I love doing these older babies, and watching them come to life again. Alina started life as most babies here at the Azygous Nursery. I removed all of her original color and started with the newly blank canvas. She took a nice warm bubble bath to bring out those pretty baby colors.
This older vinyl is very different to work with. It's much softer than the newer vinyls used in babies now. Alina is such a sleepy new baby girl. Although I sometimes create babies from the same sculpts, they cannot be reproduced and each Azygous Kids baby is unique. If baby Alina has crawled into your heart, please bid now, as there will not be another just like her. At this time, I have not even seen this sculpt again.
I hand painted Alina inside and out. Each little fold and crease was attended to. She has the splotchy skin of a newborn baby. Of course, she is no longer a toy, but instead, is a collectible, heirloom, meant to last for a long time.
I painted wispy eyebrows on baby Alina. I also painted natural colored lips that have been sealed and hand applied little, baby lashes. Her tiny little fingernails and toenails have been tipped in off-white (so natural looking), and sealed with a sealer that won't yellow with time. I opened Alina's nose so she could breathe. She has hand rooted mohair lashes on those sleepy eyelids.
I rooted Alina's hair with beautiful mohair from OrgandyRose. I just love this mohair. I used a hand dyed mohair in a color Linda calls Fiery Chestnut. Not a bright red, but definitely a red-head. It can be left soft and fluffy, or be dampened to create beautiful little curls. Her hair is microrooted and looks as though it is growing from her scalp. I rooted her hair sparsely to look as though she is a newborn baby. You can dampen it with water and smooth it straight, or use a little gel to make the pretty baby curls.
I kept Alina's original body. Her 3/4 legs/arms were sewn on, and it was so nice and clean. Alina now wears preemie sized baby clothing. Her limbs have been filled with poly pellets for weight, and premium polyfil stuffing. Her body has been restuffed and weighted with premium polyester stuffing and poly pellets as well. She is so fun to dress.
You will have to support Alina's little head when you hold her, just like a real baby.
Baby Alina has a very strong magnet in her head and her pacifier. These rare-earth magnets should not be used around computer equipment or pace-makers. Please let me know if you need this magnet removed.

Please remember that Alina is NOT a play toy, and is NOT recommended for small children. Please remember also, that Alina was not created from a new toy. She is a vintage baby doll that has been displayed in the past and may have some marks or bruises on her body to show that, but nothing that will detract from her beauty.

I feel so blessed by God to be able to create these incredibly "real" babies. I love creating them and I am anxious to share them with you. I have enjoyed real babies all my life and making these reborns seems to come naturally to me. I have been an artist for many years, painting with water colors and oils, so creating these small children is like painting on a 3D canvas. It is truly a gift from God. And, such fun!!!
